History & Purpose
The Ghana Association of Former International Civil Servants (GAFICS) was formed on 14th September 2000 and constitutes former Ghanaian Professional Staff of the United Nations and other International Intergovernmental Organizations.
GAFICS members are committed to the United Nations principles of mutual understanding and cooperation and appreciate the opportunities they have had to acquire skills and expertise, working with international and inter-governmental organizations which could be beneficial to national development.
Consequently, GAFICS is desirous of making a contribution towards the social and economic development of Ghana as well as promoting the welfare of its members.

Our core objectives

The objectives of the Association include the following:
To contribute to the social and economic development of the country by placing the skills and expertise of its members at the disposal of the Government as well as other Ghanaian organizations and institutions. To avail the professional and specialist expertise of its members through a shareable up-to-date database.
To foment national debate and discussion on development issues and other topic of national interest through publications, lectures, seminars, workshops and other activities.
To assist Ghanaian professionals returning home after serving in international organizations to resettle, reintegrate and adjust to local conditions.
To foster social interaction among members through the development and implementation of suitable programmes and activities.

GAFICS members are appreciative of the sound education they received in Ghana which helped to open doors of employment for them in major institutions inside and outside the country.
These men and women played key roles in diverse positions throughout the world.
Having retired from their formal employment and now settled in Ghana, they are desirous to give back to the society by placing their skills and expertise at the disposal of the nation.
